  5.        Determining the name of the lesser angel to be used is a more
  6. complex and delicut situation. There are four base names in each
  7. (sub)quadrant, four (sub)quadrants per tablet, and four tablets. Then
  8. each lesser angel name may be rotated (permuted) to yield four names,
  9. each name based in a different element. This yields a total of 256
  10. lesser angels, not counting the possibility of multi-lettered squares.
  11. So it would seem that a few guidlines for selecting an angel would be in
  12. order.
  13.  
  14.  CHARACTERISTICS of the ARCHANGELS and KERUBIM.
  15.  
  16.         The Archangels and Kerubim of the sixteen (sub)quadrants may be
  17. characterized as follows, these angels must answer to the nature of
  18. their given tablet:
  19.  
  20.         OF AIR. They are characterized by pairs of opposing forces such
  21. as expansion and contraction, solidification and dispersion. They seek a
  22. balance between such dual forces.
  23.  
  24.         OF WATER. These angels are characterized by motion. They desire
  25. continual movement and seed change in all things.
  26.  
  27.         OF EARTH. These angels desire manifestation. They seek to
  28. express the subjective in objective form.
  29.  
  30.         OF FIRE. These angels are characterized by their desire to
  31. purify human nature. They seek purification of all lower human character
  32. traits by fire.
  33.  
  34.  CHARACTERISTICS of the LESSER ANGELS.
  35.  
  36.         The lesser angels of the sixteen (sub)quadrants are
  37. characterized as follows, it should be remembered that these angels
  38. answer to those higher angels in the given (sub)quadrant or tablet:
  39.  
  40.         OF AIR. These angels assist in purifications. They help to free
  41. one from illusion, diseases, ignorance and other karmic problems by a
  42. process of sublimation.
  43.  
  44.         OF WATER. These angels assist in polarization. They can help to
  45. make one a fit receptical for what ever energy is desired.
  46.  
  47.         OF EARTH. These angels assist in manifestations. They can help
  48. one to express the desire in a way that is manifest on the physical
  49. plane.
  50.  
  51.         OF FIRE. These angels assist in transmutations. They help to
  52. disperse the lower elements of the human nature, they can refine the
  53. course into the fine.
  54.  
  55.  A NOTE ON THE NATURE OF THE ELEMENTAL TABLETS.
  56.  
  57.         It should be observed that the nature of the Archangels, Kerubim
  58. and lesser angels is simular. So too is the nature of the Elemental
  59. Tablets.
  60.  
  61.         OF AIR. The tablet of Air answers to the lower mental cosmic
  62. plane. And as such may help in influencing thought in all thinking
  63. beings. The tablet of air is, like the Archangels and Kerubim of the Air
  64. (sub)quadrants, responsible for creation and destruction.
  65.  
  66.         OF WATER. This tablet answers to the Astral cosmic plane, and as
  67. such also has the power of polarization. The use of this tablet may help
  68. us to seek the correct life direction and to stay on that course.
  69.  
  70.         OF EARTH. The tablet of Earth answers to the Etheric cosmic
  71. plane, and also to the physical plane. It has been my experience that
  72. the use of this tablet not only solidifies processed started on other
  73. planes, but brings about results that may be quantified in the physical.
  74.  
  75.         OF FIRE. The Fire tablet answers to the higher mental cosmic
  76. plane. By the use of this tablet we may expect to bring about
  77. transformations. A radical change in attitude or conditions. If used in
  78. conjuction with other elements total transformations, even on the
  79. physical plane may be brought about.
  80.  
  81.  SELECTION of LESSER ANGELS.
  82.  
  83.       There are two ways in which we may select a lesser angel. First,
  84. we may determine the requirements of the desired change and translate
  85. that into a series of four elements. From this series we may then go to
  86. the tablets and find the name of an angel. I should note, however, that
  87. this manner of selection, while producing the desired result, may not
  88. use the desired means. One must ask oneself; do the ends justify the
  89. means?
  90.  
  91.       The second method is more controlled. It is, however, a bit
  92. harder, and may result in one falling back to the previous method.
  93. Obtain an Enochian gematric dictionary (I think I sent one to Mysteria).
  94. Then using the first method as a starting point; apply Qabalistic and
  95. genatric methods to the names that look promising, then select the name
  96. that most closely fits the bill.
  97.  
  98.  ENOCHIAN RITUAL.
  99.  
  100.        The basics of all Magical Ritual is the same, no matter the
  101. system. One must perform these following steps:
  102.  
  103.        1. Banishings and purifications.
  104.        2. Preliminary Invocations.
  105.        3. The Oath.
  106.        4. Primary Invocations.
  107.        5. Evocations.
  108.        6. Charge and instructions to being evoked.
  109.        7. License to depart.
  110.        8. Banishings and purifications.
  111.  
  112.        One must remember that steps 5 - 8 above depend on whether one is
  113. performing an invocation or an evocation. In Enochian the end is usually
  114. an evocation.
  115.  
  116.        I have found that the old rituals of the Pentagram and Hexagram
  117. work quite well for most of the Enochian working. The banishing of
  118. elemental forces is a MUST and these old rituals work quite well.
  119.  
  120.        The preliminary invocations though, require some special
  121. attention. It not enough to simply invoke the Diety of choice. One must
  122. start with the Opening of the Temple in the mode of the selected tablet.
  123. Then one will recite the appropriate Enochian Calls. Then an invocation
  124. of the King and Seniors. And, finally the invocation of the higher
  125. angels and the evocation of the lesser.
  126.  
  127.        Of the charge and instructions, license to depart; nearly
  128. anything works. This aspect of the ritual is dependant on the reasons
  129. and nature of the given ritual.
  130.  
  131.        So ends this first installment on the subject of this most Holy
  132. Magick of Enoch. Go now unto thy habitations, study, understand, and
  133. become wise!
